DC-2 “Most Technologically Advanced Television Broadcast Production Facility”
ESPN’s new 194,000-square-foot Digital Center 2 received an “Excellence in Construction Project Award” from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut (CT ABC). “The ABC nomination referenced DC-2’s ‘future-proof design’ as indicative of the facility’s long-term flexibility and relevancy,” said HLW Managing Partner John Gering. “We are honored that the project received this award.”
DC-2, as the innovative TV production facility is known to ESPN staff, is the second of two broadcasting buildings designed by HLW International for the sports network’s Bristol, Connecticut campus. At the CT ABC annual meeting in January, the DC-2 nomination by Associated Construction Co. referenced the technologically advanced television broadcast production capabilities, including the 9,700-square-foot flagship “SportsCenter” and the 9,000-square-foot NFL studio. CT ABC is a Chapter of the national Associated Builders and Contractors, which is a membership organization comprised of Merit Shop member firms in Connecticut, representing 85% of the construction labor in the state.
